Welcome to my blog!

My name is Serena Powell and a 5th year Urban Planning major with a certificate in Urban Design. 

Just in case you were wondering, my favorite animal is a fox. 

But you're actually most likely wondering why I am taking a class on Endangered Species. In planning our impacts on the built and natural environment can be determinantal. I'm taking this class to make sure I can effectively communicate and defend the importance of wildlife conservation when the time comes (and it usually always does in this field). 

Although my area of experience in urban design/planning is forced on active transportation in the built environment, I love trail design. As trails run through the natural environment, I find it imperative to know when and what to conserve and how to leave a minimal impact/disturbance in the environment with our man-made interventions. I believe this class can give me additional insight into this subject.
